Colorado School of Trades is located in Lakewood, Jefferson County, CO, enrollment of about 85.CST has, since 1947, prepared students for a career as a Gunsmith. Gunsmiths spend their workday repairing and building custom firearms, operating lathes and mills, and performing detailed wood shaping and finishing. The Basic Section includes courses such as Drill Press Operation and Shop Math. The Machine Shop Section features Engine Lathe and Milling Machine while the Stockmaking Section includes Stock Finishes and Ballistic-Handloading. The final section deals in Design & Function and covers Business Training, Special Hand Tools and Trigger Assemblies. In all, the Program takes 1800 hours to complete including over 1500 in the Shop and Lab. The Farrier Science Program provides graduates an opportunity to work in the great outdoors shoeing horses and working with hammer, anvil and forge, building custom and therapeutic shoes for their clients' animals.
