Ignacio is located southeast of
Durango in the far southwest corner of the state. The community is a supply town for the adjacent Southern Ute Indian Reservation and ranches scattered throughout the remote area. The popular Sky Ute Casino is popular with visitors to Ignacio. The tribe's top trout fishing hole is nearby Lake Capote.
