While the Inn is just one block from festive Pearl Street -- the heart of shopping, dining and night life -- it fronts on a quiet, residential street in Boulder's grandest historic neighborhood. It is also only two blocks from the Hotel Boulderald and its conference center. The address has been a welcoming haven since 1899, when Emma Clark, a widowed dressmaker and daughter of a Canadian sea captain, took in boarders, many of whom were school teachers. Carefully remodeled to preserve its character and charm, the Inn offers seven guest rooms, five of which have private baths. Mapleton Hill, with its towering maples and cottonwoods and its turn-of-the-century mansions, is a wonderful place to stroll or bike, and hiking trails border it.
Judi and Ray, the Inn's owners, who live on the premises, enjoy mingling with guests; the "Official Greeter," however, is Basil, a laid-back hound who never met a guest he didn't like.
