Kelly Place is both an outdoor educational center and unique "bed and breakfast " located in the heart of the Four Corners, just 10 miles west of Cortez, Colorado in red-rock McElmo Canyon. In the 1960's George and Sue Kelly, horticulturists from the Denver area, built the current lodge as their retirement home and created an "oasis on the edge of the desert" with orchards, gardens, and courtyards at the base of the "Sleeping Ute Mountain", and amongst the ancient Indian ruins.

Your hosts, Rodney and Kristie Carriker, have continued since 1980 to make this "oasis" an enjoyable and educational experience for all their guests. There are over 25 documented Anasazi Indian sites on the 100 acre estate and guests may follow a self-guided t our to any of these. Bordering 6,000 acres of BLM (Bureau of Land Management) lands to the north, guests may also want to hike the many red-rock canyons located just out the back door.
