This kennel raises Toklat sled dogs. The breed is a hybrid of three original sled dog types -- Malamute, Eskimo and Siberian -- that are commonly grouped together as huskies. The combination of breeds results in desirable attributes for pulling sleds over powdered snow in mountainous terrain; these dogs often compete on Iditarod sled teams. Guided tours of the kennel are available as well as half-day dog sled rides, which tour the scenic wilderness of the surrounding Aspen/Snowmass area, include lunch. Dog sled rides depart daily at 8:30am and 12:30pm, November 27-mid-April (weather permitting). Kennel tours are given Wednesday-Monday at 11am and 2:30pm.
