Online Highways Home > Colorado > San Miguel River The San Miguel originates high in the San Juan Mountain Range above Telluride. This river is in mostly natural and underdeveloped settings. There are 50 miles of good fishing water and plenty of opportunities for whitewater sport. The free flowing San Miguel runs west - southwest from headwaters above Telluride, high in the San Juan mountains.
