This scenic byway is located in the southwestern section of the state. Its northern terminus is in Carbondale and southern terminus in Gunnison. It leads through the little-known areas of the Roaring Fork and Gunnison River drainages.
The route gives access to the White River and Gunnison National Forests, the Black Canyon of the Gunnison Ntl Park, Curecanti National Recreation Areaand Crawford and Paonia State Parks.
