Brooklyn is located in Windham County in the northeastern part of the state on US Highway 6 near Old Furnace State Park.

Brooklyn has the distinction of holding the oldest fair in the United States. Sponsored by the Windham County Agricultural Society, it has been held since 1849. This annual event takes place on the last weekend before Labor Day. There is a website devoted to the Brooklyn Fair.

The city of Brooklyn was established in 1786. The county which Brooklyn was located was founded by the English in 1635.

Local attractions include: Quinebaug Pond, White Brook, and Mashanoquet Brook State Park.
