Founded in 1849, CCSU is the oldest public institution of higher education in Connecticut. Of the University's 12,000-plus enrollment, undergraduates outnumber graduate students about 3 to 1. Both graduate and undergraduate degrees are offered in over 80 programs of study in the five schools of the State University system. Through its outreach, athletic, cultural and international activities, CCSU touches the lives of citizens of a great many other states and nations.

From its original building on the corner of Chestnut and Main in New Britain, CCSU has grown to 39 buildings located on 294 acres in New Britain and Newington.
