Lawrence & Memorial Hospital has a long history of caring in southeastern Connecticut. The 40-bed Joseph Lawrence Free Public Hospital opened in 1912, merging with the Memorial Hospital Association and, in 1930, with the Manwaring Memorial Hospital to form Lawrence & Memorial Hospital.
Today, Lawrence & Memorial is a not-for-profit, general, acute care, private hospital. They are licensed for 280 beds and provide patient care to medical, surgical, pediatric, rehab, psychiatric, and obstetrical patients.
