Norwalk

Norwalk is located in Fairfield County, west of Bridgeport between Darien and Westport, along Interstate 95. It is situated on the banks of the Silvermine River near the Long Island Sound. The Norwalk Islands and Sherwood Island State Park are nearby. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 78,064, a decrease of 267 since 1990. Norwalk is part of the Stamford-Norwalk, Connecticut metro area.

Places to visit include the Norwalk Museum, Main Street, Norwalk Stepping Stones Museum, Norwalk Lockwood Mathews Mansion and the Sheffield Island Lighthouse in Norwalk Harbor. The Norwalk Oyster Festival is held in September.
