Captain Grant's is the prominent home in a village incorporated in 1687. It is a nonclassic colonial. Untypical is the 7' wide staircase built by Capt. William Grant. In addition there is a Rufus Porter style mural covering the stairwell and hall that depicts the village as it looked in 1825. Exposed are the original post and beam construction, wide board floors and 18th century hardware. Even the three story oak deck is modified post and beam to match the home.
