This national airport is conveniently located to the entire Metropolitan Washington region in southwest DC, off the George Washington Memorial Parkway with access via I395. Two recently opened pedestrian bridges provide safe access to the Mount Vernon Trail, parallel to the Potomac River. The main terminal building features three levels with ticketing/check-in on Level 1 and concourses on Level 2. Airport services include currency exchange, dry cleaning, restaurants, lounges, snack bars, shoes/clothing, PGA Tour Shop.

Airport parking facilities include garages for hourly/daily parking and economy long-term parking with shuttle service provided. Rental car agencies are located in parking garage A. Other ground transportation includes express bus, supershuttle, taxi, metrobus and metrorail service.
