Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden

Named after the American collector of modern art Joseph H. Hirshhorn (1899-1981).

Hirshhorn's gifts and bequest to the nation of nearly 12,000 works form the core of this dynamic art collection. Open since 1974, the Hirshhorn keeps current through changing exhibitions and frequent acquisitions, which include gifts from many donors. The elevated, drum-shaped building on the National Mall, midway between the Washington Monument and the Capitol, is surrounded by more than four landscaped acres for sculpture.

Location: Independence Avenue at Seventh, Washington DC 20560 Telephone 202 357-3091 Fax 202 786-2682
