Housed in the historic Patent Office Building with the National Museum of Art, the National Portrait Gallery boasts a permanent collection that includes portraits of famous people from politics, sports, literature, stage and screen. It also houses the official portraits of the US Presidents. The museum is also expanding its collection beyond the paintings of famous faces to include photographic portraits of American citizens.
