Built by Samuel Paynter and sold for 90 pounds in 1741 to LukeShields, Sr. Shields married John Maull's widow; and Maull's four son's, three of whom became prominent Delaware River pilots, were raised here. Restoration began in 1968. The house has excellent examples of early woodwork throughout. Open for Christmas House Tour.
