Ashbourne is a small, picturesque market town in
Derbyshire at the southern tip of the
Peak District. Much of the town's fame is due to its annual two-day Royal Shrovetide Football Match, which pits one half of the town against the other in a "football" (American "soccer") match that uses the town and surrounding countryside as the field, with the goals being three miles apart.
