Bekesbourne, situated in Kent about three miles from the city of Canterbury, was once a borough itself. The royal palace, built in Tudor times, was owned by Archbishop Cranmer, who lived in Bekesbourne shortly before his arrest, imprisonment, and subsequent martyrdom.
