Buxton is a town and year-round resort in
Derbyshire on the
Wye, 36 miles northwest of
Derby and 165 miles from
London. It is situated in the
Peak District and is the highest town in England.
Buxton is famous for its mineral springs and baths, which were known and used by the Romans. After the Roman era, the baths were neglected until the 16th century, when interest in them was revived.
