Originally built in the Jacobean style, this is one of England's most extraordinary houses. Claydon was remodeled in the 1750s, when the chinoiserie craze was at its height, to produce rooms lavishly decorated in intricately carved white woodwork covered with Oriental birds, pagodas and summer houses.
