Eastbourne is a seaside resort on the southeast coast of Sussex, 66 miles south of London. Situated on the border of the South Downs, it has handsome promenades extending along the sea front and a cliff drive to the west. Beachy Head, at an altitude of 575 feet, lies three miles to the southwest and shelters the town from that side.
