Search Stoke-on-Trent

An important heritage site, Gladstone is the last remaining complete Victorian Pottery Factory; two-video presentations show rare archive film of how the North Staffordshire potters lived and worked. Giant bottle-shaped kilns dominate the cobbled factory yard, and are open to allow visitors to explore this important heritage site. The Gladstone Museum offers hands-on interactive opportunities such as throwing a pot, making a bone china flower and decorating; a staff of experts demonstrate the skills that made this area the ceramic capital of the world. A variety of china shops are located near Gladstone, including Aynsley, Wedgwood, and Royal Doulton. Open all year; conference facilities, gift shop and cafe on site.
