George has been the most popular name for kings of England since the establishment of the House of Hanover on the throne in 1714. George I, George II, George III, and George IV ruled in succession from 1714 to 1830. George V ascended to the throne in 1910. After his death in 1937, Edward VIII was briefly king, but George VI acquired the throne before the end of the year. He died in 1952.
