Manchester Museum

The University of Manchester

The Museum is housed in a series of Victorian Gothic style buildings. New galleries include: Fossils and minerals with displays of dinosaurs and other prehistoric beasts, specially recreated natural environments for the live reptiles and amphibians in the new Vivarium, 'Science for Life', an interactive exhibition about the human body. There are also natural history galleries remain with collections of birds, mammals, insects and invertebrates on display.

The world famous Egyptology galleries remain one of the star attractions and for those interested in archaeology, the Mediterrean gallery will provide hours of fascination. In the summer of 2002 the Museum will open a temporary exhibition gallery, The Story of Money, Explorers and Encounters, a cafe and performance spaces. Museum open daily and bank holidays.
