The North Yorkshire Moors Railway is Britain's most visited heritage railway. Steam locomotives take visitors through 18 miles of spectacular countryside that includes one of the most beautiful National Parks in the country, the North York Moors National Park. The railway runs between the historic market town of Pickering to Grosmont near Whitby, and is one of the world's oldest railway lines. Additional stops are made at the stations of Levisham and Goathland; passengers can disembark at any of the stations on the route (also Newton Dale on request) for refreshments in the station's tea rooms or to take one of the numerous walks available in the area. Groups welcome, discounts for pre-booking. Open April-October and weekends year-round. Tel: +44 (0)1751 473 799, Fax: +44 (0)1751 476 970
