Tunbridge Wells is located in
Kent, five miles south of Tunbridge. It developed as a resort following the discovery of chalybeate springs in 1606, and reached its heyday in the late 18th century. At one time, "Tunbridge ware," wooden articles with inlaid mosaics, was an important local manufacture.
