Westerham is the birthplace of General James Wolf whose
victory over the French troops under Marquis de Montcalm at
Quebec in 1759 gave England control over Canada. A monument
in his honor is located not far from his childhood home, now
called the Quebec House. Next to Wolfe, Winston Churchill has
a statue in his honor at the town center. Churchill's country
home, Chartwell is located just two miles south of town.
