Rutland is a county in the
Midlands of England, bounded on the west and north by
Leicestershire, on the north and east by
Lincolnshire and onthe south by
Northamptonshire. The area of the county is 152 square miles. The region is drained by tributaries of the Welland River. Rutland is the smallest of English counties and is principally agricultural. It is well known for Stilton cheese. The county town and only urban district is Oakham.
