Apalachicola is located in
Franklin County, (of which it is the county seat) southeast of
Panama City along US Highway 98 on the banks of the Apalachicola River near St Vincent Sound and the
Gulf of Mexico. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 2,758, an increase of 156 since 1990.
