Cortez is located in
Manatee County just south of
St Petersburg between
Bradenton Beach and
Sarasota along Highway 41 near Sarasota Bay and the
Gulf of Mexico. Cortez is part of the
Sarasota-Bradenton, Florida metro area.
Cortez' elevation is 4 feet, while the Land area is at 2.2 square miles.
This community is home to the Florida Institute for Saltwater Heritage. The Florida Institute for Saltwater Heritage ("FISH") is a non-profit, grassroots organization dedicated to the promotion and preservation of the cultural and environmental integrity of Florida's traditional maritime communities. FISH was established in 1991.
