Florida City is located in
Miami-Dade County south of
Miami between
Coral Gables and
Key Largo along US Highway 1 near Biscayne Bay and Card Sound. Florida City is part of the
Miami, Florida metro area.
Florida City is an old city by South Florida standards. Its early history involved many conflicts between Southern and Northern Settlers. The first settlers, originally from Topeka, Kansas settled in Homestead but moved out into the wilderness area that became Florida City in 1910.
Today, there are a lot of attractions in and around the area of Florida City, such as: The Everglades National Park, Biscayne National Underwater Park and John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park.
