Fort Meade is located in
Polk County, within the
Central Region, between
Bartow and
Wauchula along Hwy 17 near
Pembroke (part of the
Lakeland-Winter Haven, Florida metro area). This community is also situated along the Peace River.
Fort Meade is the oldest settlement in Polk County, dating all the way back to 1849 when a settlement sprung-up around the U.S. Cavalry Fort during the Seminole Indian Wars. The value of the location as a military base was recognized during the Seminole Indian Wars and a fort was constructed as a strategic point.
Now days, Fort Meade is full of recreational activities in and around Fort Meade, which will provide entertainment and excitement for all ages.
