Stretching 150 miles west from Fort Walton Beach to Ship Island off Gulfport, Mississippi, Gulf Islands National Seashore covers more than 95,000 acres. Most of Florida's portion is accessible by car and includes Naval Live Oaks Reservation, part of Perdido Key, the forts on Pensacola Naval Air Station, and portions of Santa Rosa Island. Guided tours of Fort Barrancas and Barrancas Water Battery are offered. A visitor center in Naval Live Oaks Reservation features a picnic area, interpretive trail and exhibits. On the bay side of Santa Rosa Island is a recreation area with picnic facilities.
