Haines City is located in
Polk County south of
Orlando between
Winter Haven and
Kissimmee along Highway 17 near Lake Marion. This community is also situated between Lake Marion and Lowery Lake. Haines City is part of the
Lakeland-Winter Haven, Florida metro area.
Long dependent upon the citrus industry as its economic provider, Haines City is becoming popular as a retirement center. New golf course communities and expanding shopping opportunities are speeding the growth of the area.
Just north of Haines City is the Baseball City Stadium, home of the Kansas City Royals spring training field. The stadium is clearly visible from busy I-4. Tourism also makes an impact on the Haines City area due to its proximity to Disney World's complex of attractions, as well as the presence of Grenelefe, a world-class golf and tennis venue featuring a large vacation rental population.
