The Henry B. Plant Museum is housed in the 1891 Tampa Bay Hotel, built by transportation magnate Henry Bradley Plant, instrumental in the development of Florida and the City of Tampa. The Victorian-era palace in downtown Tampa features unique Moorish revival architecture and dramatic minarets, and is now a National Historic Landmark.Visitors to the museum will enjoy the opulent Gilded Age European furniture and art treasures of the original railroad resort, as well as the permanent exhibit on the Spanish American War. Over 41 train car-loads of furnishings were needed to fill the main corridors of the hotel. The building stands over 1/4 mile long with four main floors and a small fifth floor, accommodating well over 500 guests at one time. Reservations required for groups of 10 or more, contact the Museum Relations Coordinator. Open Tuesday-Sunday.
