Inverness is located in Citrus County north of Tampa between Brooksville and Hernando along Highway 41 near the Withlacoochee River and Tsala Apopka Lake. This community is also situated on the edge of the Withlacoochee State Forest. Inverness is the county seat of Citrus County. There is also an Inverness, Scotland. Inverness lies along side a chain of lakes made up by three connecting bodies of water. A canal leads into a river which can take you up and out to the Gulf of Mexico to either fish, boat, or just relax on the beach. Whether it's via airboat, pontoon or fishing boat, this seemingly endless lake chain is a sportsman's paradise. There are also plenty of other necessities in Inverness such as convenient shopping and excellent medical care.
