Lauderdale-by-the-Sea is located in Broward County just north of Fort Lauderdale between Pompano Beach and Fort Lauderdale along Hwy A1A near the Atlantic seacoast. Lauderdale-by-the-Sea is part of the Fort Lauderdale, Florida metro area.

Pelican Square, at the intersection of El Mar Drive and Commercial Boulevard, is at the hub of this peaceful community. Lodging, pleasurable dining, boutiques, and charming shops can be found within short distances. If traveling a little further, museums flourish in the area, lessons in history, science, archaeology, art, and culture can all be found nearby.

Lauderdale-by-the-Sea offers the living reef which can be found just 100 yards from shore. This reef makes for excellent snorkeling and scuba diving, as well as fishing, sunbathing, and swimming which can all be enjoyed year round.
