The character of Lighthouse Point is that of quiet, tree-shaded, canal-laced neighborhoods, with 20 acres of parks, 13 miles of sidewalks/bike paths and 18 miles of waterways. In an area of mangrove swamps and fertile farmland, Miss Juliette Becker built Lighthouse Point's first home in 1947, and in June of 1957, received its state charter and officially became a city.
