Longboat Key is located in
Manatee County just south of
St Petersburg between
Holmes Beach and
Sarasota along Highway 789 near Sarasota Bay and the
Gulf of Mexico. Longboat Key is part of the
Sarasota-Bradenton, Florida metro area.
Longboat Key lies within two counties. The northern portion of Longboat Key is in Manatee County and the southern portion is in Sarasota County. The Town is also accessed by bascule (draw) bridges.
A large number of Longboat Key's nearly residents are retirees, who enjoy the island's championship golf course and tennis club, and its fine dining and shopping.
An average year round 75-degree temperature makes this island paradise very conducive for just about anything.
