Malabar is located in
Brevard County southeast of
Orlando between
Melbourne Beach and
Vero Beach along Highway 1 near the Atlantic seacoast. Malabar is part of the
Melbourne-Titusville-Palm Bay, Florida metro area.
The Town of Malabar got its original, and official Post Office and name on December 24, 1883. Two times a week, the boat that traveled down the Intracoastal Waterway from Jacksonville would deliver the mail to the palmetto shack post office along the river bank at Malabar.
