Florida Hospital Wauchula filled the void created when Hardee County's only hospital closed in 1992. To meet the most critical needs first, their emergency and outpatient departments opened in July of 1993. Since that time, additional physicians have been recruited, and hospital services have expanded.
Florida Hospital Wauchula became the first Critical Access Hospital in the State of Florida in the year 2000. This change made it possible to enhance the services provided here.
