In 1986, Pinecrest was founded to meet the rehabilitation needs of a growing community. Today Pinecrest is one of the regional leaders in the rehab field, providing advanced technology, treatment and rehab management services. Tenet HealthSystem, a nationwide leader in providing health care services, owns Pinecrest and 114 other health care facilities in the United States. The 90-bed rehabilitation hospital is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) has extended accreditation not only to the hospital, but to Pinecrest's other services, including its outpatient centers. Pinecrest accepts Medicare and Medicaid and many other insurance plans. A complete list of managed care arrangements can be found later in this section. Pinecrest is also a state-designated Spinal Cord Injury and Brain Injury Center in the state of Florida.
