Museum of Fine Arts of St Petersburg

Opened to the public in 1965, the Museum founded by Margaret Acheson Stuart displays the only comprehensive art collection, extending from antiquity to the present day, on Florida's west coast. Galleries designed for leisurely reflection include exhibits of 17th- through 19th-century European art, 19th- and early 20th-century American art, Greek and Roman antiquities, photography, and ancient Asian and pre-Columbian art. Museum facilities include the Marly Room, an intimate 'concert hall' which features a chamber music series, Membership and Sculpture Gardens, reference library, and a museum gift shop. Gallery and guided tours are available; free admission on Sundays. Closed Mondays and major holidays.
