City Map with Features
Traces the development of American naval aviation from its beginnings to the present. Among the highlights of the collection are the NC-4 Flying Boat, which in 1919 became the first plane to cross the Atlantic; the World War II fighter F6F Hellcat; and the Skylab Command Module, in addition to more than 140 other historic naval aircraft. Four A-4 Skyhawks are suspended from the ceiling in formation in the Greater Pensacola Blue Angel Atrium. Bus tours feature additional aircraft. The world-famous Blue Angels flying team can be seen practicing from a viewing area adjacent to the museum. Practices are normally held on Tuesday mornings (weather permitting) during the season. Other activities allow visitors to take the controls of aircraft trainers & simulators, ride a motion-based simulator, and an IMAX theater presents films every hour. Open daily; admission is free to the public.
