New Smyrna Beach is located in Volusia County northeast of Orlando between Daytona Beach and Titusville along US Hwy 1 near the Indian River Lagoon and the Atlantic coastline. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 18,167, an increase of 1,618 since 1990.

New Smyrna Beach is part of the Daytona Beach, Florida metro area.
