The Miami-Dade Historical Maritime Museum is determined to purchase and restore the Mohawk to her original wartime condition. She will become a floating museum at Bicentennial Park and display the original artifacts she still has onboard. In addition, she will be used as a platform to display rotating maritime expositions. With the help of the Historic Naval Ships Association, their goal is to educate and enlighten visitors on their maritime history while ensuring the survival of a great contributor to it. She is an appropriate vessel as the sixth Mohawk, the USCG Mohawk, is currently based in Key West.
