St Augustine

St. Augustine is located in St. Johns County, south of Jacksonville. It lies between Ponte Vedra Beach and Flagler Beach, along Highway 1 near the Atlantic seacoast. Jacksonville, Orlando and Daytona airports are accessible from the city.

St. Augustine is the oldest city in the United States. The Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de Leon visited the present-day St. Augustine area as early as 1513. St. Augustine was founded in 1565 by the Spaniard Pedro Menendez de Aviles.

The city has 43 miles of beaches. Several marinas make boating accessible by sea, river or intercoastal waterway. Off-shore or in-shore fishing, diving and other water sports are accommodated in St. Augustine. World Golf Village and Ponte Vedra, home of The Players Championship, are a 20-minute drive from St. Augustine's historic district. Other attractions include the Fountain of Youth, The Oldest House and Spanish Quarter Village, among others. Several tours of the area are available.
