It lies between Ponte Vedra Beach and Flagler Beach, along Highway 1 near the Atlantic seacoast. Jacksonville, Orlando and Daytona airports are accessible from the city. St. Augustine is the oldest city in the United States. The Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de Leon visited the present-day St. Augustine area as early as 1513.
