Founded in 1963, the University of Central Florida is part of the state university system in Florida. Nearly 16,000 full-time undergraduates receive their instruction at the university's 1445-acre campus 13 miles east of
Orlando.
The undergraduate student body is drawn primarily from Florida, but many other states and countries are represented. Fraternities and sororities are somewhat active. There is not a lot of on-campus housing. Popular majors include psychology, liberal studies, and elementary education.
