Located just outside the town of Marmagne, the remarkably well-preserved Fontenay Abbey, founded in 1118 by St. Bernard, is the oldest surviving Cistercian foundation in France. Situated in a remote, forested location, the abbey is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and offers visitors a unique insight into the Cistercian way of life.
