The town of Agen is located along the Garonne River at the foot of Ermitage Hill, halfway between Bordeaux and Toulouse. Known as the prune production center of France, Agen s prosperity comes from the famous plum trees that dot the landscape; the fruit is said to have been brought back from the Middle East during the Crusades.
